Need: A trading firm was in need of a new web site for promoting their products to the consumers in a more effective manner. It needed a user friendly web site with easy navigation features and lot of product related information with integrated payment processing capability.  The organization also needed several administrative functions and reporting functions.

Solution: Anagha Group designed and implemented an eCommerce based web site to address the consumer market. Since the organization wanted to reach the consumers in a cost effective manner, an open source platform based solution was selected, customized and implemented. The catalog management module, shopping cart and administrative reports were made very user friendly. Graphics and creative materials for the site were also developed by the off-shore development team.

Technology: Linux based hosting environment was selected as a cost effective platform. Apache web server was used. MySQL was selected as the data base engine. PHP was used for writing the code. This LAMP based platform provided the most cost effective solution.

Methodology: Anagha Group used its off-shore Open Source (LAMP) Consulting practice staff to implement the web site as the customer was based in Asia Pacific region.

Results: The client was able to access the on-line consumer market with the least possible cost option. The hosting charges were also considerably lower. Since an open source ecommerce engine was customized and integrated, the development time was cut in half thereby enabling the customer to reach the market sooner than planned.
